Slavania is a premium action game for PC developed by FrostLeaf Games LLC. It is a 2D side-scrolling platforming adventure featuring Slavic themes and takes place in a world overrun with creatures from the underworld. Players will go on the hunt for these monsters with the help of a magical spear.

Much like Hollow Knight or Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Slavania blends fast-paced action combat with platforming challenges to offer an experience that requires skill and precision. They are complemented by a vast interconnected world filled with dangers and wonders for players to discover.

Hunting your prey

The game takes place in the titular fairytale land of Slavania which is under threat by dark creatures from the underworld. You are a mighty hero who will embark on a journey to hunt these monsters in their lair and bring the fight to them. Armed with a magical spear that will help you traverse locations and can be enchanted to deal different damage types.

There are over 40 creatures to hunt across multiple distinct biomes. Each location features unique environments and a set of platforming challenges to overcome. Upgrade your spear to unlock more mobility skills to help make the ordeal easier. Each provides a new way to explore the world and help you reach secret areas you otherwise would not be able to.

Throughout your journey, you will interact with multiple citizens of the land, and some will even have items for sale. Purchase food, drink, and other items to increase your chances of survival. All that said, there's a slight learning curve in getting used to the mechanics of your spear. The same goes for the actual combat, which can feel a bit floaty or buoyant sometimes, making it hard to execute attacks.

Fun and challenging

All in all, Slavania is an interesting Metroidvania-style adventure that offers engaging combat and challenging platforming challenges to fans and newcomers alike. Its vast world is also intriguing to explore with all kinds of secrets to discover. It will take some time to get used to its mechanics, but it's worth the effort for the experience you'll have with this game. Recommended.
